Tell Us About Your GrandChampions!
The Office of Community Engagement is pleased to announce the launch of GrandChampions, a district-wide initiative to engage grandparents in their grandchildren’s education and to recognize them for their involvement.
To kick-off this initiative, an essay contest on the theme “Tell Us What Makes Your Grand So Great!” is open to all M-DCPS K-12 students. Click here for contest regulations and criteria and submission form.
- The top essay-contest entry in each of three divisions (elementary, middle, senior high) will receive a prize package of local experiences for six members of their family.
- Essay must be submitted by February 21, 2014.
- Visit http://community.dadeschools.net/!grandchampions/grandchampions.asp for an overview of the GrandChampions initiative; information on how to become a GrandChampion; links to resources for grandparents and families; and registration for periodic communications from the District.
DBFE Family Fun Night
Last Friday, September 20th, students and their families had the chance to watch a belly dancing show (as well as learn a few moves of their own), play hieroglyphics bingo, and color Egyptian-themed art during our Family Fun Night. Best of all, Mr. Breeding and Mr. Mancebo volunteered themselves to be mummified by a number of students. Our Scholastic book fair was also open throughout the night and was an enormous success! Check out our photo recap below. 😀
A special thanks to our dedicated PTA for all their efforts in coordinating the event! Also, many thanks to the teachers and staff members that volunteered their time to help. Without their assistance, Family Fun Night could not have been possible!
