We are implementing changes to the dismissal process for the 2014-2015 school year. Please use the photo below to familiarize yourself with this new system. Expect to receive a hardcopy version on Monday afternoon, as it will be sent home with your child. The map is also available on our school website, under the “Parents” tab.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during the first few weeks, as the entire DBFE community adjusts to this new routine; it is greatly appreciated!

November is Florida Parental Involvement Month

2009ParentMonthLogo_webThe Florida Department of Education has designated November as Florida Parental Involvement Month to celebrate the role parents play in their child’s education.

It’s proven that when schools work together with families to support learning, children are inclined to succeed not just in school, but throughout life. Research shows that there is a direct connection between parental involvement and high student achievement, regardless of family income or background. Students with involved parents are more likely to have higher grades, test scores, and graduation rates, as well as better school attendance, increased motivation and self-esteem, lower rates of suspension, and fewer instances of violent behavior.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools recognizes that a child’s education is a responsibility shared by both schools and families, as evidenced by the Board’s policy on parent involvement and its long history of collaboration with parents. Additionally, the partnership with Florida PTA and the Miami-Dade County Council of PTAs/PTSAs provides parents with a forum to advocate as one voice and collectively influence the decisions that affect their children.

As Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Dante B. Fascell Elementary School observe Florida Parental Involvement Month, we hope all parents get involved, stay informed, and continue to make their children’s education a top priority.

November 2nd: Curriculum Expo

On Saturday, November 2nd, DBFE attended the Curriculum Expo for the John A. Ferguson Senior High feeder pattern. Hundreds of students and their parents came by to learn about the many programs offered by neighborhood M-DCPS schools.

A special thanks to the teachers and PTA members who joined us in representing our school! 🙂
